Parents/Players

We need you!

AYSO is a volunteer organization with more than 250,000 parents and friends, many of them working as coaches, referees and administrators. It’s not unusual to find two, three or more children in the same family playing AYSO soccer — while Dad serves as referee and Mom as coach. It can be a total family experience!
AYSO Cedar Rapids/Marion is also ran completely by parent volunteers and depends on your help.

Reminder

Please make sure your child gets to practice on time and with the proper equipment. Although we recognize that children have busy lives and sometimes will have conflicts, the primary instruction in soccer skills, strategy and teamwork will take place in practice, and your child will miss much of the value of our program if they do not attend practice on a regular basis. Please pick up your children from practice on time. Remember that AYSO is not a babysitting service. Practices are scheduled at the discretion of Coaches, and may be canceled at the Coach's discretion.

Jewelry Policy - Ear Piercings

For safety reasons, absolutely no jewelry of any kind (necklaces, watches, earrings) can be worn during games or practice. Earrings must be removed before your child can play - padding/taping is not an acceptable substitute. Only elastic hair bands and properly-taped Medical Alert bracelets and necklaces will be allowed.
If your child wants to get their ears pierced and you're concerned about the piercing closing up during the game, we suggest postponing the ear piercing until after the season. Doctors recommend that initial studs be worn for 8 to 10 weeks. So January, June, November, December are probably the best months to get your child's ears pierced.
